Alex Eagleton’s work propels itself from his nostalgia of motherland country Greece. These recollections translate into portraits of gestural idyllic settings which bring the past into a space that inhabits the concept of permanent presence. This piece was exhibited at his 2018 solo show titled “This is Heaven” at Safe Gallery. Eagleton remarks “whether it’s short bursts or long hauls now is heaven and heaven is now”
This image seemingly of sweet lovers’ embrace, is in actuality a drug addled couple propping one another from crumpling to the ground. Eagleton translated this form of street photography by printing it on UV glass and hanging it from an illusion of endless chain protruding from the gallery ceiling.
Alex Eagleton works and lives in Brooklyn, New York. He has shown works at NADA NY and Art Athina with Safe Gallery in Brooklyn. Most recently Eagleton was included in group shows in Hydra (School House Project), Mykonos (Dio Horia), London (Flat Two) and New York (CANADA, Club Rhubarb).
